Bill Baker — Managing Partner

Bill graduated from the Australian National University in 1970 and commenced practice with BDN soon after in 1971. In almost 40 years of legal practice, Bill has worked across most areas of law but now focuses primarily on property and commercial transactions, local government law and estate law. Bill has provided extensive services to the community and is currently the Chair of the Queanbeyan Business Council. He also has a long history of involvement in local schools and sporting organisations such as Triathlon ACT and Triathlon Australia. Bill is based in the Queanbeyan office but regularly consults with clients in Canberra.

Ian Marjason — Partner, Notary Public

Ian joined BDN in 1990 as a Solicitor and became a partner in 1992. He attended Queensland University until his graduation in 1986 and has since been enrolled as a Solicitor and Barrister in the NSW and ACT Supreme Courts, as well as the Federal Courts. Ian practices mostly in family law, is a Notary Public and is an Accredited Specialist in Advocacy.

As a Notary, Ian can also assist you by

• Attesting documents and certifying their due execution for use in Australia and overseas countries;
• Preparing and certifying powers of attorney, wills, deeds, contracts and other legal documents for use in Australia and overseas countries;
• Administering oaths for Australian and international documents;
• Witnessing signatures to affidavits, statutory declarations, powers of attorney, contracts and other documents for use in Australia and overseas countries;
• Certifying copies of documents for use in Australia and overseas countries; and
• Exemplifying official documents for use internationally.

At a local level, Ian has also served the community as the Mayor of Palerang.

Charmaine Tunn — Managing Partner

Charmaine is Managing Partner of the Canberra Office and runs the firm's litigation, personal injury and workers compensation practice. She joined BDN in 1996 after completing her studies at the Australian National University.

Lorraine White

Lorraine, an experienced commercial Lawyer who comes to us from Bradley Allen Lawyers in Canberra, joined BDN in May 2011. Lorraine has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws from the Australian National University. She has expertise in all aspects of commercial law, commercial conveyancing, business sales and purchases, planning and commercial leasing matters. Lorraine also practices in family law, employment law and wills and estates.

Tanya Nadin

Tanya joined the firm in 2003, working as a paralegal until the completion of her legal studies and admission as a practitioner in December 2004. Tanya practices in family law, wills and estates, criminal and traffic matters, commercial law and general litigation.

Richard Baker

Richard completed his legal studies at the Australian National University in 2004 and also holds a degree in Applied Science from the University of Sydney. After working with the Commonwealth Public Service for several years, Richard returned to private practice in our Canberra Office. His primary focus is in personal injury, general litigation and local government law.

Our support staff

Our staff are highly skilled in their respective fields and we would not be the firm we are today without their assistance. Many of our staff have worked with the firm for a decade or more and we look forward to receiving their assistance for many more years still.
