History
BDN as it exists today draws its history from two firms.
The first, Deane & Deane, begun by Mr. William Smith Deane and his brother, Mr. Henry Deane, commenced practice in Sydney in the early 1850s.
The second, begun by Mr. Joe W. Scrivener, commenced practice in Queanbeyan in 1861.
The two firms came together in 1923 when, Mr. William Henry Younger Deane, relocated to Queanbeyan and purchased the Queanbeyan practice from Mr. Arthur Mead.
The firm continued under the name Deane & Deane until Mr. John Nutt joined the partnership in 1961 whereupon the firm became known as Deane & Deane & Nutt.
Mr. William Baker (presently Managing Partner) joined the firm as a partner in 1974. At the same time the firm changed its name to Deane Deane & Nutt, and then in 1990, became Baker Deane & Nutt.
